Egypt

Arriving in Cairo

Egypt is full of contrast. Egypt is the beauty and is the beast. Egypt is the rich and is the poor. Egypt is a full contradiction in which past and present coexist and unfortunately, contradict each other. Egypt is the most magnificent, and the most harsh. I guess it couldn’t have it all.

Made it to Luxor!

As usual, we don’t have any time to spare. We had hired a private driver that was going to pick us up at the airport. This time T-Mobile service did allow me to connect so I texted the driver: he was waiting outside. Great News!

The Adventure Begins

We had heard very good things about Dendera Temple. It was in my mind and we definitely wanted to visit. Although our private driver didn’t want at first to take us there, he finally agreed. We woke up early morning and started a drive that turned out to be more than 4 hours.

Hello West Bank!

We finally made it to the Valley of the Kings. Yes, the place everybody talks about. I could see the reason. We woke up early in the morning so we could be there after they opened. It took us a half an hour to get there.

Aswan

Aswan was going to be a new start, a new opportunity. We began early in the morning at The Temple of Horus. Very small and compact, but still delightful.

Going to Abu Simbel

Is it worth it? Yes. Is it dangerous? Not at all. Fortunately, we picked right since day one. We stayed at the City Max Hotel in Aswan, which probably has the best view and location around the city.

How I remember Cairo

I didn’t know what to expect about Cairo. You either love it or hate it. I have heard versions of both. I was mentally prepared for both. No place can be that good or that bad. Well, it turns out Cairo is both.

Alexandria is Huge!

As there is no Uber service in Alexandria and the way back was going to turn into a nightmare, we decided to book a tour to go to Alexandria.

The Pyramids at Giza

Last, but not least was Giza. We did pick the best hotel in the area to stay for two nights. The Hayat Hotel stands in front of the Pyramid Complex so can enjoy the view 24/7. I couldn’t have enough. I was so amazed I couldn’t stop staring while in the room or at the restaurant.

Egypt: 10 Things To Know

We will never regret haven’t been to Egypt. It was in our bucket list. Although I had read enough and thought I was mentally prepared, I wasn’t. Even with this in mind, Egypt has been the most amazing site I have visited so far.
